Wall Space Gallery is excited to present AND THEN, IT’S NOW, a new body of paintings by Stewart Jones shaped by the feeling of trying to keep pace with a world that rarely stops moving. Working from walks through the city, fragments of travel, roadside memories, and moments half-recalled, Jones paints the way certain places continue to surface long after encountering them.

Jones paints places the way they are often experienced now: in fragments, in passing, and while already thinking about what comes next. Parts of streets, buildings, signs, weather, and movement surface throughout the work, not as fixed records of location, but as observations gathered over time and carried forward through memory.

Jones approaches painting as a way of slowing his attention long enough for an experience to settle. While daily life increasingly moves at a relentless pace, his work returns to the simple act of looking: at places passed through, moments remembered, and the impressions they leave behind. In AND THEN, IT’S NOW, painting becomes a way of staying with those experiences a little longer.
